a long overdue update

Hi all,

So it's been a while, but we've still been chugging along quietly. With some lovely new volunteers, and a host of events coming up, the reading room's calendar (and blog) is going to get a little busier in the upcoming weeks.

And congratulations to Saskia and Genevieve for a very successful opening last month!

Hard to believe we opened just over 10 months ago...I should probably get something organised for our birthday huh...

Here's what's coming up at the reading room...

:: Friday 29 April ::
A SILENT AUCTION from 6 - 8pm
Artist Alexander Carletti is creating the exhibition in the 24 hours preceding the opening in one swift creative burst. Drawings and paintings of animals are humans transforming and expected.
Accompanying this one night show... will be an acoustic set by Max Hardy of Menagerie... If you would like to have a sneak peak of what is in store for your ears... please have a listen! a link is provided for your ease ;)

CHESS NIGHT from 6 - 8pm
Fortnightly on Mondays, come and play chess at the reading room.

:: Wednesday 4th May ::
May Meeting of the Adelaide Feminist Reading Group 6:30 - 8:30
This month, we're reading a more contemporary non-fiction title (to the relief of some, I'm sure), Cordelia Fine's Delusions of Gender: The Real Science Behind Sex Differences, in which the author discusses the uses of neuroscience to justify and entrench sexism.

An improvised musical and poetic jam session. Too hard to describe so just come along!
