Then Matthew K moves in with (SUB)URBAN ABSURD, opening on the 6th Oct.

It is part of the first Festival of Unpopular Culture. See below for more stuff we're doing.

Fancy an hour and a half of dance after work? Feel like clubbing at a respectable hour?
Every Tuesday till the end of September strictly dancing will be taking place from 6 - 7:30pm sharp at the reading room.
Guest DJs and dance floor.
No Talking. Just Dancing! All Welcome!

:: Wednesday 5th October ::
October meeting of the Feminist Reading Group :: 6:30 - 9:30
You know you're onto something good when you're reading something that was banned- that's why this month we're reading Henrik Ibsen's classic play 'A Doll's House'. The play was regarded as being so scandalous in its portrayal of the breakdown of a marriage that not only was the ending changed in some performances, but it was completely banned in Britain. Come along and check out what all the fuss was about.

(SUB)URBAN ABSURD - Matthew K
OPENING NIGHT EVENT Thursday 6th October, 6-8pm. All Welcome.
MATTHEW K brings the '(SUB)URBAN ABSURD' to the reading room - a mixture of stencil/drawing/painting including a live soundtrack from future-love-space-jazz pioneer WYNN H.S (God God Dammit Dammit etc) and the room-sized 3D stencil art installation 'The Last Temptation of St. Elsewhere'

RADICAL CRAFT WORKSHOP 2pm - 6pm
Radical Craft Adelaide will show you how to Knit, Crochet, Cross Stitch and generally get crafty, with a Radical twist. Materials will be available, but bring your own too.
May turn into a Yarn-Bombing adventure after the movie...
Followed by :: Making it Handmade documentary screening from 6pm.

So you think craft is for Nannas? Well think again. Come and explore the subculture of indie craft in Melbourne through four women who are subverting domestic craft techniques drawing from punk culture, politics, feminism and modern aesthetics.

CHESS NIGHT from 6pm
All Russians play Chess. I learnt that from Law&Order LA. We play it too.
Anything could happen, but it will probably be Chess.
* May turn into Chess Boxing.

A DISCUSSION OF LIFE - PHILOSOPHY NIGHT from 6pm
Come and hang for an hour or so with young people from all over Adelaide, and discuss Philosophy, Politics and more. With Devon Turner.

NATURE LOVES COURAGE X from 6:30pm
Open Mic - Music, Spoken Word, Noise and any combination thereof...
anything you can dream up and perform, belly dancing, pole dancing, juggling, mime, throat singing... tequila shot to the person who comes up with the most ridiculous / original idea.
bring an instrument and play a couple of songs. join in a communal improv jam. Read with or without music...Fully Open Mic
